The Evening of Grace
Just as the painter begins with broad strokes—laying down vast swaths of amber and peach—God lays the foundation of our character with simple acts of grace.

The Master’s handy paint brush
When the sun begins to set, the sky gives God an opportunity to paint. Yellow and red colors combine with sweet lavender, always letting me see a new swirl or shape in this gorgeous sky. Every day, we see our Maker taking ordinary people and making their lives into masterpieces.
From Pale Dawn to Fiery Dusk
Each sunset begins with modest light, growing in splendour only after the sun has laboured through the sky. In much the same way, a believer’s life often starts in quiet faith: a child’s simple trust, a seeker’s hopeful prayer. But as days pass—through trials, joys, victories, and setbacks—God layers lessons upon experiences. Like the sun burning ever more brilliantly before it sets, the believer’s faith strengthens under refining fires.
The Master’s Patience, Our Growth
An artist isn’t in a hurry; each coat of paint needs to dry and each color must be set before continuing. God has an endless patience, just like parents do. He does not try to grow us too fast. As we come to Him in faith, He lets us know a different portion of His plan. As the sun fades from pink to purple, we understand the need to be patient, sure that everything in life happens according to God’s schedule.
A Humble Spectator and Co-Creator
Watching the clouds rise from a peaceful hill, anyone can feel awe and must surrender to nature. We watch as God’s work unfolds while we are still participants in it, shining His light out to the world. As the fading sun spreads light on the earth, our lives after surrendering keep shining with Christ’s love for years.
The Evening of Grace
In silent hues the Master’s hand refines our clay,
Through dawns of hope and dusks of trial, He lights our way.
Though storms may sweep our skies and shadows press our days,
His brush of mercy colors life in soft, immortal rays.
