Casting Burdens and kneading Peace
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
Baking and cooking for my family is not just an ordinary chore or routine, because I love to cook more and create more stuff when my children and their lovely mother relish it with joy. And so, as a home-baker, very often, I begin the day with flour-dusted hands and a heart full of intention. The kitchen becomes more than a workspace—it is a sanctuary where the soul finds quiet rhythm. Each time I knead the dough, I am reminded of my burdens, the worries that press in like an unseen weight. But just as I press into the dough with patience and trust, I am learning to press into the promises of God.
Baking requires surrender. Once the ingredients are measured and the dough is formed, I must let go. The proofing, the rising—it all happens out of sight. And this is where the Scripture meets the silence of the oven: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” I offer my cares the same way I offer my bread to the heat: with trust. I don’t control the outcome, but I trust the process—and more so, the One who holds it all.
As the sweet aroma of the baked delicacy fills the home, peace rises within me. It's not just about feeding the family—it's about sharing the fruit of trust, patience, and divine care.
Couplet:
Into His hands my cares I throw, like dough I knead and let them go.
And from the oven, peace shall rise, wrapped in mercy’s sweet surprise.
